A curb appeal that feels like home!

Your home should radiate your unique personality inside AND OUT! You see your home's face everyday...is it welcoming you home after a long day of work? Do you start to relax when you pull in the driveway? If not, there are so many ways you can change that for less than you think!

Of course, I'm not talking big changes: siding, painting, a new roof...of course those are pretty costly and require planning ahead. But the little things, even within the limitations of some HOAs, can make a big difference. And being able to smile as you drive up, in stead of frown or sigh with lack of enthusiasm for your home, is worth it!

So where to start? You could choose a fun color to paint your door. Or change out the hardware. You can even paint your existing hardware if you like the style, but not the finish. It's easier than you think! You can do the same thing with the lighting. Change it out or update the look with paint to give it a fresh feel.

And speaking of house numbers. You're not stuck with the ones that came with your house (unless your HOA has rules about it, of course). So find some that you love and swap them out. Or build a cool installation for them like this one:

Once you've got a good foundation with the door, hardware, lighting, and numbers, you can start to add layers and embellishments to add depth to the design. Incorporate a planter or two with a variety of plants that will look great in all seasons. Sunset.com has a great article for planning your containers for all seasons here. And if you don't have much space for containers, think tall and skinny or wall containers to add color and dimension without much of a footprint.

If you have room, add an inviting place to sit or keep a spot open for incorporating seasonal decor. It's fun to have a place to decorate for the season. As fall approaches, I'm so excited to get pumpkins out on the front porch! And there are so many amazing signs and other options to share a little joy of the season to with your neighborhood.

Having a solid base allows for fun seasonal decoration, too! Include your favorite things for each season: corn stalks and pumpkins for fall; a small tree and lights for winter, fresh flowers and bright colors for spring, lemons or red, white and blue for summer.
